Sweater Meat Monday
What to do on a summer day? How about letting them hang and catch some sun whilst enjoying the pool.
Maybe enjoy a baseball game. Play with some balls.

The Hanalei
The Hanalei Hotel in San Diego. It has been remodeled but didn't go modern.
The plants and the tikis make the atmosphere very relaxing. The waterfall, ponds and perfect weather.
Can't wait to go back.
Romeo y Julieta
The Romeo y Julieta 1875 is my "go to" cigar for now. It is between this and a Rocky Patel. It has a little more flavor than the other light wrapper cigars. A little aftertaste. I enjoy it with vodka or gin on the rocks. It burns real even. It is mid range in price. Around 4.50 to 5.00. Enjoy.

Lazy
I think I am going to relax and enjoy.... doing nothing. Listen to some Arthur Lyman on the vibraphones and make rum drinks.
I have a lot of Cruzan. It is so so rum. Not my pick for the top. I still need to figure out what to do with the Black Strap rum that tastes like awful molasses cookies.
Vodka
Light with an earthy note. It is warm but not burning. I think I like it. Very easy on the wallet without the pain of cheap rot gut.
Relax
It's Friday. Relax. Grab a beach chair, take off your bra and let those babies hang out. Free your chest pillows and free your mind.

Cigar
Cigars
Choosing a cigar is an individual thing. It depends on personal taste, availability and budget.
The larger the ring size, the fuller and more complex a flavor the cigar will have, and the more smoke it will produce. Find one that fits in comfortably in your hand.
In terms of color, the darker the wrapper, the more full-bodied the cigar is likely to be. The longer the leaf stays on the plant, the more sunlight it gets and the darker it will end up being. There are dozens of possible shades of cigar wrappers. Some of the more common colors are:
Double Claro – has a light green wrapper and a very mild flavor.
Claro – has a light tan wrapper and a smooth, mild flavor.
Natural - light brown to brown. It has a fuller bodied flavor than the Claro.
Colorado - reddish dark brown, with a robust, rich flavor.
Colorado Maduro – a dark brown wrapper with a rich, aromatic flavor.
Maduro – is very dark brown, and usually has a strong, sweet flavor.
Oscuro - the darkest maduro wrapper, oscuro is almost black and is stronger than the lighter maduro wrappers. The darker the wrapper, the more full-bodied and sweeter a cigar is likely to be.
When buying cigars, you should always check the freshness before you purchase. Squeeze the cigar gently. It should "give" but not be too soft. The cigar should not be dry to the touch, but have a mild oily sheen to it.
Use a cigar lighter or low sulfur matches and enjoy.

The Royal Hawaiian
I am watching Octopussy and drinking a Royal Hawaiian. It is a simple recipe.
1 1/2 Gin
1 1/2 Pineapple juice
1 tsp Orgeat
1/2 Lemon juice
Shake with ice and strain into a martini glass. I garnished it with a cherry on a toothpick.
Back to relaxing.

Cigar
The best cigar I have had this year. The Padilla Miami. Light flavor and no aftertaste. Pleasant aroma and easy to enjoy. A suprisingly good cigar. I am certainly a fan, but no one really carries them. It is a shame.
